Virgin Mobile is a company which provides cellphone service and access, launched on March 1 2005. Since then they have grown to a customer base in the hundreds of thousands, and have won the J. D. Powers & Associates "Highest In Customer Satisfaction With Prepaid Wireless Service, Two Years In A Row". Virgin Mobile Canada offers prepaid mobile service operating on the Bell Mobility network.

History

At the launch event in Toronto's Dundas Square, Sir Richard Branson, chair of the Virgin group of companies, descended on a high tension line fixed to a Virgin Mobile billboard. Returning to Toronto on March 13 2007 Branson appeared in another public stunt to publicize the arrival of Wireless Number Portability to Canada.

In September 2006 Virgin Mobile held the first ever Virgin Festival. A massive two-day music festival held on Toronto Island, it became Canada's biggest music festival in its first year. Virgin Mobile has since announced the return of Virgin Festival in September 2007. As part of the Virgin Group's worldwide focus on environmental issues, Virgin Mobile announced that this year's Virgin Festival would be completely carbon neutral.

Virgin Festival

This year (2007) Virgin Mobile expanded Virgin Fest to include two events. Event one took place at Thunderbird Stadium in Vancouver May 20-21, 2007. The second event runs September 8-9, 2007 at Toronto Island Park in Toronto.

The Vancouver Virgin Festival featured a wide variety of artists including: My Chemical Romance, Billy Talent, The Junction, The Killers, Mother Mother, and many more.
