Information about Vladivostok Air

Vladivostok Air (also Vladivostok Avia; Russian: Владивосток Авиа) is an airline based in Vladivostok, Russia. It operates scheduled domestic flights and international flights to China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam. VIP flights and helicopter services are also provided. Its main base is Vladivostok International Airport (VVO).

Code Data

History

The airline started operations in 1994 and in 2003 merged with Khakasia Airlines incorporating its fleet and route network. It is owned by the State (51%) and Vladivostok Air employees (48%).

Destinations

Vladivostok Air operates the following services (at December 2006) : Starting in April 2008, Vladivostok Air will be flying twice a week between Vladivostok and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Once a week, the flight will stop in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski and Anchorage. Once a week, the route will be flown via Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Anchorage.

Incidents and accidents

In July 2001, Vladivostok Air Flight 352, a Tupolev Tu-154 belonging to Vladivostok Air crashed while attempting to land in Irkutsk, Russia, killing all 145 people aboard [1].

The Vladivostok Air fleet includes the following aircraft (at August 2006) [2] : The airline took delivery of its first Airbus A320 in November 2006 under a lease agreement with International Lease Finance Corporation. It is currently used on international services from Vladivostok to Niigata, Seoul, Bangkok and Hanoi, and on domestic services to Yakutsk, Irkutsk and to Krasnodar via Novosibirsk. The route to Seattle will be served on Monday and Tuesday by a Tupolev Tu-204 and on Friday and Saturday by an Airbus A320. A second A320 was delivered in March 2007. Two more will be delivered in 2008 and a further two in 2009 [3].
