Information about Marketeer
Marketeer is most often a contemporary and informal euphemism for Marketing professional. The term covers a range of professional and job designations concerned with development of market research, brand strategy, advertising, public relations, packaging and similar issues that arise when delivering goods or services to competitive markets.
Marketer
The term Marketer can also be used to describe these individuals, but typically refers to persons or companies engaged in promoting or selling things that they themselves have not developed or manufactured.Paradoxical term
According to editorial article The Marketeer - Anti-Guidelines for a Web 2.0 Marketing Award [1] the word marketeer is a paradoxical term that can be used:- to describe the profession of an individual engaged in marketing activities
- as a contemptuous insult directed towards a marketing professional borne of a poor experience dealing with a professional marketing unit
- in reference to luddite practitioners who continue to push pre-social computing 4P marketing campaigns and practices
- the name proposed by Peter Carr for a forum and awards community dedicated to immortalising annual achievements for the worst corporate marketing effort - the marketing equivalent of the Darwin Award.
