John de Halton (died 1324), also called John de Halghton, was an English priest and Bishop of Carlisle from 1292 to 1324.
He was a canon and cellerer in Carlisle Cathedral.[1] He was elected bishop on April 23 1292, and consecrated on September 14 1292.[2] He served as English ambassador to John Balliol in 1295 and in 1309 excommunicated Robert the Bruce for the murder of John Comyn three years earlier. He served as an envoy to Scotland again in 1320.
He died on November 1 1324.[2]
