Information about Ferris Bueller (tv Series)
Ferris Bueller is a spin-off of 1986 John Hughes film Ferris Bueller's Day Off. It debuted in August 23, 1990 on NBC and was cancelled within its first season, a few months after its debut. It is known outside of its fan base as having starred a then-unknown Jennifer Aniston (who would later hit it big with Friends) as Jeannie Bueller, played by Jennifer Grey in the film. Coincidentally, on Friends, Jennifer Grey appeared as Mindy, a friend of Aniston's character Rachel.
The show was broadcast on Monday nights with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, also in its first season, as a lead in. Ferris Bueller was replaced mid-season with the more offbeat sitcom Blossom, which did considerably better.
Some credit its demise to competition from a show with a similar concept that debuted on the Fox network the same month, Parker Lewis Can't Lose. Parker Lewis proved to be more successful, lasting three seasons.
The series was set in Los Angeles, instead of Chicago as in the film.
