List building is such a wonderful thing online, and creates huge profits to those who learn how to do it well and correctly.
Why? List building gives you the opportunity to continually bring a visitor, or prospect, back to your sales page so that they can make a purchase.
For example, imagine that you have a sales page that has a 1% conversion rate. Would it be better to send your visitors directly to that sales page where 1% of them buy from you today, and 99% leave the site, most of them never to land on your web site again, or would you send your visitors to a squeeze page where they give you their name and email address so that you can repeatedly send them back to that web page for future sales?
If the conversion rate remains the same over time, and for repeat visitors, imagine that every week, out of those same 100 people who initially would have visited your web site, 100 of them revisit your web site? And if the conversion rate is the same, you would sell 1% of them every week, not just one time. So what if the conversion rate drops to .5% - after 10 weeks you will have a total of 5% unique visitor conversion rate.
So what are the first 3 steps.
1) Get an autoresponder. I use aweber.
2) Build a squeeze page for your web site. A squeeze page is a web page that has on it only some web copy that compels the visitor to opt in to your email list, perhaps by offering some valuable free gift.
3) Send traffic to that squeeze page. My favorite forms of quality traffic are natural search engine traffic and article marketing traffic.
