The very first email that you write for your email campaign should be a welcome email. This email reminds the reader why they are on your email list, and should include a link to the free giveaway product that they were promised on the squeeze page.
Even if you have things ordered with your autoresponder company so that they receive the gift when they subscribe, I like to include a link to the free gift in my first email, so if they missed the link, they do not feel cheated. I will sometimes even give them a link to another product, a free product, like a bonus. I always want people to feel like they are getting more value from me than they paid for. And of course that is easy if all they have paid me is with their name and email address. But I still have to do it. And the better I do it, the more they will buy from me in the future.
So my email might read like this:
Dear (name of subscriber):
Welcome to (name of your email list). You will be receiving useful content, free bonus items, and links to some of my favorite and most useful products.
In the meantime, be sure and download your free gift: (link to giveaway item).
Also, as an added bonus, please also accept the following fre.e gift from me to you: (link to the other item).
I look forward to getting to know you over the next few months, and sharing some of my most effective secrets with you.
To your success,
Sean Mize
