For the average person to learn something means things like tough, hard, painful, struggle, failure, disappointment etc. However if you remove the word learn you also instantly take away the associated words as well.
Allowing a person to discover then changes the dynamic completely. The word discover to the average person means excitement, fun, interest, laughter, easy, simple, success. And it also allows people to more easily drop their guard and when this happens they are always easier to reach.

The exclamation point is not hype in this instance because it is properly being used to convey the sentiment of the headline.
